Case Study:
Castleross Nursing Home
Castleross Nursing and Convalescent Centre in Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan is a purpose built facility, dedicated to the health care of short term and respite residents. With 68 rooms and a dedicated 18 bed dementia care unit, Castleross boasts the space and comfort, which is the envy of most other facilities. But it is the commitment to personal care and the friendly atmosphere presented by all the staff at Castleross that has enabled it to grow in reputation and stature.
Customer requirements
Modern nursing homes are places of care where the resident is of the utmost importance. From this stand point Castleross required a telephone system that would not only be capable of implementing the communication needs of a modern care facility, but also be adaptable for future developments. With these elements in mind K.T. Communications recommended a Panasonic KX-TDA200 phone system.
There are four main benefits to this telephone system and the technology it incorporates:
To ensure the safety and contractibility of all residents, each room has its own telephone, with a direct telephone number so that family members can easily ring directly in to contact a loved one 24 hours a day.
The facility itself is quite large so for staff to contact one another, we installed a DECT cordless telephone network. This system means that key staff can carry small, mobile sized cordless phones that have full coverage around the whole building. The main benefit of this technology for Castleross Nursing Home, is that nurses and other key members of staff are always contactable, be it in case of emergency or to receive a telephone call.
To reduce the time spent answering multiple phone calls and creating endless paper trails, Castleross installed a voicemail system utilising the Panasonic VM50 as well as full Auto Attendnat facilities. If the required staff member is not contactable at that time, then the caller can leave a voice message in their mailbox, this ensuring that important messages are never lost.
In many nursing homes, residents share a payphone for outgoing calls which gives them little or no privacy on their calls. For Castleross Nursing Home we recommended a Soft-Ex cost management system linked to their telephone system which means that residents can make and receive phone calls in the privacy of their own rooms but yet the owner has a complete record of all costs incurred by each resident. In addition to this, the owner can run management reports to check how efficiently calls are being handled by the staff.
As a result of the implementation of this technology and the backup service provided by our engineers. Castleross Nursing Home are happy to endorse K.T. Communications as a reputable and professional supplier of telephone systems and equipment to any nursing home owner.
